I have something playing on repeat in the imax of my mind. It was the Sunday just before we left for Champagne (April 26th) and I was wondering about, deep in the Marais district - which up until the 17th century was a swampy marsh (marais means marsh in French) and after the Knights Templar drained it in early 1600's it became the home for the bourgeoisie class, in the early part of the 19th century, it had the highest concentration of Jews in Europe (and therefore targeted by Hitler during the occupation of France) and most recently it has become the home of the gays! Talk about a neighbourhood rich in tradition and colour! Safe, busy and medieval in it's narrow, uneven streets full of cafés, thrift & high end shops, gay clubs and traditional pastry shops (pâtisserie)! Our flat, located at 103 rue Beaubourg was just on the western edge of it. By far, it's my favourite neighbourhood to get lost in. I placed many, many footprints on these narrow streets.
One evening as I was wandering, the sun goddess wrapped the city of love in her golden rays. I don't know if there is anything more beautiful then a Parisian sunset on a clear evening! I know I say this about the sun as she dips into the Pacific Ocean in English Bay and also about that magic moment when the Black Rock mountain range hides the sun at the end of a blistering Burning Man day! Seriously though - a sunset in Paris is like no other!
So, I thought I'd post some photos of this loverly sunset escapade I had!

So beautiful!! I love the second one, with the bike n stuff - well captured.
